I don’t know about you, but this year has flown by for me. Have you ever looked at your list of resolutions you started at the beginning of the year and notice a few things you have yet to check off but the next year is quickly approaching? I used to be that person, every year. Then I thought better of waiting until a new year to make changes that I wanted to make strides towards immediately.
Two things to expect as topics of discussions when approaching a new year are holiday parties and resolutions. I almost cringe at the latter.. SO THIS THING CALLED NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTIONS?! WHY, WHY WHY? I think creating New Year Resolutions are done with the best intentions, but are usually not fulfilled because of the lack of motivation. This quote by Thomas Jefferson sums my sentiments up perfectly - “Never put off tomorrow what you can do today."
Resolutions are meant to decree and commit to change in your life. No one lives a perfect life, so if you know there are areas in which you can improve, things that you should be doing to lead a healthier life and obligations that you should be keeping, why would you wait until a new year? Why not start now? You really don’t need a new year as an excuse to be the best you can be. A resolution should be made on a daily basis and not once a year. Focus on making every day better than the last and you won’t have to purge away your ‘faults' at the end of the year. When your motivation is conjured daily, you will see your results are more obtainable. As we draw near to 2018, focus in the results you can get today.
Idle time is wasted time. Tomorrow isn’t promised to anyone so I believe the present should be spent perfecting who you are. When people realize their self worth, it causes life to be much more precious. Ultimately you become a little more careful not to forfeit those things that are important to you. How many times have you regretted your actions and in hindsight you thought how you could have done something differently or used your time more wisely. The best part of life is that we have the future to look forward to. So spend your time doing things that will make your future worthwhile. No one can define your happiness like you, so if you like it, I love it!
You are the author to living your best life so the question is how will you write the script to your happy ending? When you understand objectivity, you know the choices you make today can generate consequences later. Some people wear bracelets asking "What Would Jesus Do?" as a reminder to live righteously. Others have a strong family structure that screams do the right thing. Whatever it takes for you to be motivated, is what you should spend your idle time doing. If you want to be a doctor, get a subscription to your favorite medical journal or spend time volunteering at your local hospital. If you want to be an actor, why not enroll in some acting classes. If you would like to be a writer, hey, why not start a blog! Time is of the essence so spend a little being the best you. Happy New Year and Happy New you!
